Australian Wildlife Rescue and Caring Based in Sydney - I am volunteering in an awesome organisation in my personal time. The money raised goes towards medicine, food and rehabilitation aviaries and creches', that are much needed.
I have taken quite a lot of footage. Above is the footage of Sandy the Possum, rescued off her mothers back after being hit by a car in Leichhardt, Sydney. You'll be inspired and moved by what you watch.
It has been a busy time since I completed their course in November. I have been on 36 rescues, from then till now. Have hand raised six exotic birds from nestlings to juveniles. They are now flying free in the Sydney skies. Three ringtail possums and five brushtail possums. Some have died, many have lived. It is incredibly rewarding. Well worth supporting this great organisation. They need more volunteers!

Did you know that the domestic cat's saliva is poisonous to our wildlife. One bite or puncture wound and most of our Australian wildlife will die, if they do not receive antibiotics within the first 6 hours! To top it off, most vet's out there don't know how to treat our sick or injured wildlife. Please keep your cats locked up at night. All strays can be dropped off at your local RSPCA, Vet or Cat Society. Keep cats off our streets at night, to help minimise the enormous loss and destruction of our wildlife here in Sydney. Also, throughout Australia.
It has been incredibly sad for me to watch birds and possums die in my care as a result of cat bites and puncture wounds.
They cannot even scream as they are dying in pain.
The organisation I am volunteering with, operates in the Sydney metropolitan area that extends from the Hawkesbury River in the north, to Picton in the south, and from the foothills of the Blue Mountains to the ocean. As well as caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, they are also involved in educating the community about wildlife in the Sydney area as a way of helping to ensure the long-term conservation of wildlife and their habitats. They are an entirely voluntary charitable organisation. The organisation is licensed to do the work it does by the National Parks and Wildlife Service under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1974.
Emails us if you can also help with volunteering. We need more volunteers in the Inner and Outer West of Sydney. Otherwise, any donation made on this page will help greatly. I will continue to add more footage, so you can see what we're up to. It will be busy again around spring.
I will be building another site later in the year, that will be dedicated to understanding our wildlife. Make sure you bookmark this page.
